Surah Mursalat

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

The name of the Surah is taken from the first verse. The subject matter is the Day of Judgment (similar to Surah Dhariyat). The meaning of the name is interpreted as wind,  rain or angels who are sent forth with the message. (The Majority opinion is wind)

Yet again, Allah swears by His creations about the occurance of the Hereafter. One unique feature of the Surah is the repetition of the verse “Ah Woe, that Day to the Rejecters of Truth” similar to that of Surah Ar Rahman. Read More...  

Surah Al-Asr

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

TThe Surah takes its name from the first verse. The subject matter is the true success of those who possess faith, righteousness, truth and patience.

Allah swt swears by “Time.” Time signifies a short period both past and present during which man travels through this life. Past represent those before (Ad, Tamud etc.) who without these qualities were eventually destroyed.. Read More...  

Surat Al-Ahzab

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

The name of the Surah is taken from the first verse. Subject matter of the Surah is – Yawmul Jaza, Deen, the recompense or Day of Judgment. The Surah refers to both encouragement and warning. It takes care of doubt or objects in the mind of people and clears it out (Ad Dhariyat is the adjective (sifat) of something that is so clear and the noun is hidden).

Majority opinion of Dhariyaat is that it is the adjective of wind (riya’ah). Winds that scatter (Pollination). Wind had an important role to play with people who were destroyed. It is used for quick succession. Others refer to “angels” who bring both the rain, the winds etc. with the command of Allah (swt). Some scholars said Al Jariyat Yusra refers to the stars that float in the orbit with ease. Read More... 

The Seerah II : Biography of Prophet Muhammed (saw)

Praise be to Allah swt who sent His Messengers with clear signs and guidance to bring the people out from darkness into light, and to guide them to His path - the Straight Path .

In the first part of the Seerah, we looked at the struggle and persecution that the Prophet (saw) and his Companions (r.a) faced during the early years. We covered only  a very small phase of the Seerah with the aim to inspire strong faith.

In the second part, we will focus on the significance and impact of this Message on those who believed in it and had their chracters developed as a result of this struggle. While they gained knowledge, they also stood steadfast upon the teachings of monotheism and the need to  carry the call of Islam to others in its entirety. . Read More...

Developing Reading Habits in Children

Reading fires the imagination in children. It encourages quick learning, widens their view of the world, expands horizons, and helps them learn. It encourages curiosity and imagination, and gives them the ability to handle complex ideas.

Reading is an essential life skill which helps develop comprehension, vocabulary, and promote a lifelong interest in reading. Hence reading has to be nurtured for our young Muslim’s at an early age. Once children know how to read, they would need encouragement and support from their parents to select both material that would support them academically and spiritually to support them at school and build their personalities and mould their Islamic character.
