Surah Al Fajr

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

The Surah takes its name from the first verse.

On more than one occasion Allah has sworn by time, for example in Surah Al Asr, Ad Duhua, Al Layl and in Al Fajr. This shows us the great importance of time.

The subject matter of this surah is reward and punishment in the Hereafter.

Therefore the oath that Allah refers to here is about the times of worship and the acts of worship such as Salah, Hajj, and others, which are done with the fear of Allah, obedience and total humility in order to draw oneself nearer to Him. Read More...

Surah Al Kahf

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

The surah takes its name from the story about the People of the Cave in verse 9. The subject matter of the Surah is Tawheed and Hereafter.

The surah is one of the many surahs that have virtues ascribed to it.  For example in Surah Al Mulk, the Prophet (Peace  and Blessings be Upon Him) said, “Whoever reads Surah Mulk before going to sleep, then such a person will be saved and protected from the punishment in the grave,”   Likewise Surah Kahf has special virtue about which  the Prophet (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) said, “Whoever reads either the first 10 verses of Surah Kahf or the last 10 verses of Surah Kahf on a Friday, then that person shall be protected from the Dajjal. Glorifying and Magnifying Allah (The Most High)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Distance learning, e-learning and online education is rapidly becoming the way of the future since they free you and your child to learn from your own home or wherever you are, under your direct supervision.

Many professional educators have deep reservations about the compulsory education system that developed during the Industrial Revolution under the specific historical situation of the Western world. Such professionals have found that, with guidance, parents can teach their children better, faster and with more care than schools can. As a result "homeschooling" is rapidly developing as a "thinking parents' alternative" to compulsory schooling. Gradually, it is gaining recognition in standard academic circles so that now many colleges accept homeschoolers.

Reading

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Learning to Read in our Summer Program: In our summer program early learners and struggling readers practice reading while having fun. We help them learn to express themselves, pronounce words correctly, use the correct phrases, speak at the appropriate volume at the correct pace and speak smoothly. At the end of the program they come out fluent in English and Arabic to the degree required by the regular homeschooling program during the academic year, they have confidence in their reading ability and they love to read!

The Importance of Reading:
A child weak in reading skills will find it difficult to pursue further education and this weakness will even limit his opportunities when he is looking for work later in life. Reading has changed nations and societies throughout history. So, the first Revelation of the Qur’an to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him) was the command to “Read!”

The Prophet himself (peace and blessings upon him) encouraged young people to read the Quran and implement its teachings. Indeed he even commanded one young Companion to learn Hebrew so that he would be able to understand what the Jews wrote. Although the Arabs loved literature, poetry and oration, it was Islam that introduced them to writing, until by the 2nd century of Islam, scholars started writing well-organized books for to be read by the public. So we see that that given opportunity and a little encouragement, young people learning to read can become a first step to knowledge.

In our own immediate context, as children read they learn new words, they get to know the structure and use of the language they are learning and they even learn to write better. Reading also leads to critical thinking. And an independent and autonomous learner needs all these things! Read More...

Making a Difference

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Today, several online homeschooling programs have opened doors for many parents to homeschool their children under their supervision.

As the name suggests, an online homeschooling is conducted from the home and hence  the parents’ role is with a difference. The difference here is the level of commitment and responsibility that the parent takes on behalf of the child(ren). Their child’s education becomes a greater responsibility for them.

First, let us understand how an online homeschool operates because it takes some effort to have a five or six year old child sit in front of a computer for x number of hours to study when he/she would prefer to play! Read More...
